These are things you need
to know in beginning a personal relationship with God through His son Jesus
Christ.
What you need
to know…
1st - God
loves you and wants a personal relationship with you.
John 3:16 says
- “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
2nd
- You must realize there is a penalty for sin.
We all have sinned...
Romans 3:23
says - “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
…
and there is a consequence.
Isaiah 59:2 says - “...your sins have separated you from God.”
The Penalty for sin is death or eternal separation from God.
Romans 6:23
says - “For the wages of sin is death.”
3rd
- Jesus Christ loves you and paid the penalty for your sins.
Jesus paid the penalty...
Romans 5:8 -
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us.”
… and made the way to God!
Jesus said in
John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to God
except through me.”
4th - You must
personally Believe and Trust in Jesus as Savior and receive eternal life.
Romans 10:9
says - “That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in
your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
If
this is your desire pray to God something like the following prayer:
Dear
Lord Jesus,
I know I am a sinner and need forgiveness from you. I
believe that you died on the cross and rose again from the dead in order
that I might receive eternal life. Right now I trust you as my Savior and
will follow you as my Lord. Thank you for hearing my prayer and giving me
eternal life. Amen
